In Losing What I Am, I Become Who We Are

Title: In Losing What I Am, I Become Who We Are
Authors: qafkinnetic & solvingfor42
Characters/Pairings: The Torchwood Team, sans Jack.
Word Count: 43,192
Rating: R
Warnings/Spoilers: Warning for violence and major character death.
Beta: jellopubes, Neil's parents, Tumblr user consultingmidgardian.
Summary: The discovery of a mechanical Weevil beneath Cardiff starts a chain of events that threatens to destroy Torchwood. Jack is still missing, Ianto seems to be going mad after an injury and Owen is forced to confront his worst fears. When the people of Cardiff start turning into clockwork automatons, things seem hopeless. And then, when Owen decides to investigate Ianto’s strange behaviour, they get worse.
Authors' Notes: SO MUCH LOVE for our betas: jellopubes and Neil's parents, and our Brit-picker, consultingmidgardian. We'd also like to thank The SCP Foundation (, where we found a key plot element.
This fic was supposed to be short -- we decided to aim for a thousand words, expecting it to expand to two or three times that. But Neil tends to write mostly novel-length fics, and Lex wanted an actual plot, and we found all these great ideas, and the next thing we knew it was over 40,000 words! As Neil said when we were trying to think of a title: 'Somehow I think “The Epic Fic that Would Not End Oh God” would convey the wrong mood.'

To Guide, Rather Than Lead

Title: To Guide, Rather Than Lead
Authors: analineblue & sariagray
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto
Word Count: ~2,500
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: None
Beta: nancybrown
Summary: Flat Holm lay on the horizon, far enough away to be nothing more than a dark smudge against the brightness of sun-on-water. Jack and Ianto, navigating the silence after an argument.

Notes: Many thanks to our wonderful beta nancybrown! ♥ Any remaining mistakes are our own. (sariagray and I would also like to point out that this fic does not include any of the following: rain, driving in the rain, or smoking. Instead, there's a boat! And Flat Holm. ^_~)

That's What You Get

Hello Again

Okay. It's June 17th, which means you should have wrapped up your stories today.

We have a schedule for posting (and, if you haven't contacted me about posting, or haven't heard from me, please email or PM me). We'll be starting tomorrow. The first week will have stories from June 18th - June 21st. The second week will be June 25th - June 28th. The second week is reserved for people who are still running behind on getting their stories finished up. Honestly, as long as you get your story posted by the 28th I'm not going to be super strict about the specific date.

When it's your turn to post, please feel free to post it in one (or both) of the authors' original journals and just link back to the community. Please use the header provided below. After the posting period I'll compile a master list of all the fics produced.

Thank you all for participating. I can't wait to start reading.

Midway Check-In

Hope everyone is having a great time writing. We're around the proposed halfway point for writing with your partner. I'm going to contact each group now and set up a date for posting and check on everyone's process.

If you want to go ahead and message me with any questions, or just to let me know how it's going so far, I'd really appreciate it. Either way, I'll get a hold of you all as the week progresses.

Have a good day!

Edit: I am awful at this and I really apologize. The original date for final drafts was pushed back at the request of some people at the start of the fest. It's currently set for June 17th.

Partner Matches Sent

Hello again!

I've sent everyone their partner contact information for the fest. Unless your messaging was disabled, I sent it directly to your LJ inbox. So please check there first and then in the email you provided.

If you didn't get a message from me, please comment here and let me know.

Thanks everyone and happy writing!

Thank you everyone for signing up!

Sign ups are now closed for our little festival. I want to thank everyone for the fairly decent turnout. I was worried I wouldn't even get eight people signed up and we ended up doubling that number! That's really not bad for a first time go at this. Now, on to the team ups.

I have my last final on Monday, but I'm hoping to still have time this weekend to send out everyone's partner contact information. If not, look for it on Tuesday. If anything happens, or you need to drop out, please contact me as soon as you can so I can make arrangements for your writing partner.

Thank you again for all of your support in promoting, participating and following the community. I'll speak to you all shortly!
